Mainstreaming an Intersectional Gender Approach into the Safety of Journalists
π
Date & Time: Monday, 5 May 2025 | 09:30β11:30
π Location: Embassy of Canada to Belgium, Avenue des Arts 58, 1000 Brussels
ποΈ Organised by: ARTICLE 19, Global Affairs Canada, and the Association of European Journalists (AEJ) Belgium
As part of the World Press Freedom Day commemorations, this roundtable event will bring together voices from Bangladesh and Brazil to tackle a crucial and urgent issue: how to center intersectional feminist perspectives in safeguarding journalists, especially women, in an increasingly hostile global environment.
Women journalists worldwide are facing intensified threats, rooted in both their profession and gender identity. Despite these challenges, protective mechanisms often overlook the specific needs of women, particularly those from the Global South. This event seeks to change that narrative.
